The staycation has been a popular trend during this decade, first after 9/11 due to security concerns, and recently due to the economic downturn. Today, it's become more than a slang term and trend as Merriam-Webster added staycation to its collegiate dictionary, defining it as "a vacation spent at home or nearby."
While spell-check prompts might not recognize it yet, we're glad to see this trend get its proper due. Since Center'd aims to help you plan life's activities and find things to do in your local area, we've long been fans of the staycation. In case you haven't checked them out yet, our new local city guides are a good resource for planning staycations and can help you find activities based on your intent, like romantic, outdoor, or kid-friendly.
Here's a sample of some of the cities we cover:
Boston things to do
Chicago things to do
Las Vegas things to do
Los Angeles things to do
New York things to do
Washington, DC things to do
And here are some examples of the types of category and activity intent information you can find in the city guides:
Washington, DC attractions
Romantic restaurants in New York
Cheap attractions in New York
Kid-friendly things to do in Chicago
You can check out the full list of metros we cover on our city guide overview page, and we'll keep you updated as we add new cities.
Cheers,
Dan
